POETRY SHACK, TUESDAY DECEMBER 5th 2006
I will be performing roughly 30 minutes worth of my own poems and other odds and sods at The Poetry Shack which takes place in The Old Crown, 33 New Oxford Street, London. People get there around 7:30pm and the show starts at 8pm. I’ve never actually performed my poems as myself before, they’ve always been part of a character thing as with Pavel or Ken Korda, mainly because the idea of actually thinking of myself as ‘a poet’ is for me about the same as thinking of myself as ‘an artist’. It just puts too much weight on something fairly flimsy. Anyway, you’ve got to give these things a go, right? Also the organiser, Jack Shamash (unbelievably his real name, not a post-Borat moniker) seems like a good guy and they’ve had some impressive people there before although their website refers to the story of Jerry Springer The Opera being related by ‘Lee Herring’ rather than Stewart Lee, which is something that should probably be sorted if you ever want to see him again Jack! I’ll no doubt be introduced as ‘Adam Cornish’… Why not come along and see!?
