(THINGS I GET ASKED A LOT)
ARE YOU GOING TO DO ANOTHER SERIES OF THE ADAM & JOE SHOW ON TV?
I don’t think so. By the time we stopped making The Adam & Joe Show in 2000 we were pretty sick of doing everything ourselves and spent a few years working on other things. We did try and think of another kind of show we could do together that was similar to The Adam & Joe Show but never really cracked it. The whole point of The Adam & Joe Show was that it was just Joe and I reacting to what was around at the time so really, there was no need to reinvent it, but from Channel 4’s point of view it was a format that we’d done and we needed to move on from. Once or twice since then we’ve approached other broadcasters with the idea of doing another series of something similar but so far no one’s been up for it. Maybe one day some kid who used to watch our show when they were 12 will end up running a channel and ask us to do another series and because we’ll be so old and shameless by then we’ll agree and it’ll be fucking rubbish. Maybe someone will even quote this back to me and I’ll say ‘Oh, well I was drunk that day’. I’m not drunk though. Just a little tipsy.

WAS THAT REALLY YOUR DAD IN THE ADAM & JOE SHOW?
Yes it really was. He’s very well thankyou. He lives on his own in a little house on the Sussex downs where he goes for long walks, drinks very good red wine and writes for various magazines about wine and walking.
WHEN ARE YOU GUYS BACK ON THE RADIO?
We’re on the radio now you lunatic! Every Saturday morning on BBC 6 Music! It’s digital though so you need a decent radio, although you can listen on digital TV of course (Sky channel 0120) or indeed on Listen Again here.
ARE YOU DOING MORE PODCASTS?
There’s a weekly podcast which features hi-lights from the live 6 Music show although we’re not allowed to add new stuff the way we did for our Xfm podcasts (Big British Castle rules!) We are still thinking about how to do another podcast that would be more along the lines of those Xfm ones but we’re both busy with other things so it’s taking a while!
DO YOU GET REPEAT FEES FOR SHOCK VIDEO?
No. We don’t get repeat fees for anything in fact. The only money we make from stuff we’ve done is a couple of hundred quid every few years from The Adam & Joe DVD. Once in a while we’ll get a cheque from PRS if some lunatic has played our Footie Song on the radio or used it on TV, but the cheques are for about 27 pence a time. I think you have to write a number 1 before royalty cheques start being worth cashing. Almost everything people do TV and advert wise these days is on a buy-out, ie. you get paid once and that’s it. Even if it gets repeated every hour for the rest of time, you don’t see a penny (unless you’re very famous and you can get your agent to drive a hard bargain but then they would probably use someone cheaper…) So there you go. I don’t think anyone’s getting rich off Shock Video!
