ILLEANA DOUGLAS - I BLAME DENNIS HOPPER PODCAST
Loved this podcast and found it really interesting. On the point of evolutionary biology, I would recommend reading the book Testosterone Rex by Cordelia Fine. She looks at all of those ideas about men being “biologically more likely to cheat” etc etc and picks it apart and it’s really interesting and informative. Not that you were completely wrong, but the whole idea that everything can be brought back to biology and evolution, as Mona said, doesn’t actually really stand up that well. Loved the episode though, and love the podcast!
Love your work. Massive Fan. Disappointed with the stereotypical stuff in this podcast and your guests agenda though. Try watching Naked Attraction on Channel 4 tonight....Women who are into women have just as much of an issue with pubes and tidy "vaginas"....actually vulvas as boys do. Theres just a lot more oral sex going on these days and going down on a thick bush isn't so nice for either sex. I have to trim for my lady or she won't go downstairs! most young men trim or shave their now too. You can't pretend this is a sexist issue. So your whole concept of biological imperative plus socio-media pressure is BS I'm afraid. Its more because people are more sexually confident than we used to be (I'm also a child of the 70s) and not willing to put up with it and are more confident in asking/demanding it! I used to be soooo grateful if I got any action during my early sexual years but that was the 80s and a different time. People are much more sexually aware and confident now. Obvs there are a lot of people struggling with issues but thats not really what you 2 were suggesting....
A note about Comments
Hello Podcats and Blog friends,
I wanted to let you know that comments have been disabled on the blog and the app for the time being. This is not because of anyone posting anything abusive or anything like that, but just because I seldom get round to moderating the stuff that comes in as promptly as I should, and rather than irritate people who don’t understand why their comment hasn’t been posted, I think it’s easier if I just switch them off. Sorry about that, but time is scarce and I’m disappointed to discover I can’t do everything! And if you’re one of the people who submitted a comment and it hasn’t been posted - sincere apologies.
