RAMBLE BOOK - CARDI B PODCAST AD AND RADIO 4

Here’s a new podcast ad for the hardback release of my book in the style of the current UK number 1 - WAP by Cardi B featuring Megan Thee Stallion. In case you’re not familiar with WAP, here’s the video for the radio friendly version. The uncensored version of the track is a tad more explicit.

My version is less spicy, though my wife cringed expressively at the innuendo saying it was not appropriate for a 51 year old father of three. I had to play her the uncensored version of WAP several times before she understood the joke, and even when she’d understood it, she didn’t like it. We listened to WAP followed by my ad twice more just to be certain. She still didn’t like it.

RADIO 4 - BOOK OF THE WEEK

An altogether more wholesome Ramble Book experience can be had this week on BBC Radio 4 where you can hear me in their Book of the Week slot, every morning at 9.45 - 10.00, repeated at 00.30 the same evening. Episodes will become available HERE.

The book was abridged by Ben Lewis into 5 x 15 minute extracts that focus mainly on the stuff I wrote about my dad. The episodes were produced by Kirsty Williams. I’m very grateful to Kirsty and Ben for making it a smooth and enjoyable process.

As with the audiobook I recorded the Book of the Week episodes in my voice booth here in Norfolk, with the odd Ramble section recorded on a walk with Rosie.

I think my mum would have got a kick out of hearing me reading my book on Radio 4 (though she was always more of a Radio 3 fan), but there’s a good chance dad would have just muttered darkly about falling standards at ‘the appalling BBC’. Nevertheless, I’m delighted.
